Her compassion draws her into an imaginative journey. A little girl arrives home from school one day and as she gets off the bus her orange cape snags and tears. The girl throws off her backpack and lopes across a field encountering her cat. A monarch butterfly flutters by and is injured by the curious, playful cat. The girl feeling compassion for the poor damaged insect gently scoops it up and discovers to her relief that it is not a life threatening injury. She then curls up under her cape for a well-deserved nap and finds to her surprise that she is covered with a living blanket of monarch butterflies who lovingly transport her over land and sea to their secret grove of trees reserved only for their species.

Then supernaturally she sprouts wings of her own to join in with the thousands and thousand of butterflies that are fluttering about and resting among the trees. Her unbelievable journey ends when her own wing cape transports her back to the field where her journey had started. The style is a blend of softly Little Butterfly - Christer Alsén - Little Butterfly charcoal and a sort of smudged colored pencil feel—utilizing grays, oranges, and blues exclusively but with a charming and distinct effect.

The symmetry is thoughtful, and the message is one that encourages kindness and imagination. In it Logan shares about the special meaning Monarch butterflies hold for her, and Min Tornerose - Julie Maria - På Kanten Af Virkeligheden points to a biological curiosity regarding their migratory patterns as the source for her inspiration.

Mar 13, Samantha rated it liked it. The style of illustration is absolutely gorgeous and is hands down my favorite part of the book. Occasional infusions of red and blue color accent the story perfectly.

However, particularly in the beginning, the story lacks in emotional build up for bigger scenes. The messages inside the story Little Butterfly - Christer Alsén - Little Butterfly powerful and good for any age to understand. Through the story, readers understand that just because something is broken, does not mean it is lesser or without value.

In addition, it shows that when people or butterflies who are broken help each other with kindness, beautiful results can happen. This is a story perfect for daydreamers, for children who love exploring and imagination. For young learners, the author provides a helpful note at the end of the story that explains a bit more about the scientific details of butterflies and their life cycles.

Dec 09,  · Great little board book! I love the little butterfly finger puppet. The story itself is a tad boring, but it's easy to just make up a new one - the butterfly is all that my daughter is interested in anyway. Highly recommend the entire series!/5(18).
